Documentary about the life of Ivan Ljubičić and other tennis stars in the elite Monte Carlo

The film tells the story of the events that happen behind the screens of a great tennis career, a private life intertwined with constant traveling, the bitter taste of becoming a refugee, and the good friends with whom he shared the thing that made him famous – a tennis racket. Ivan Ljubičić was ranked third on ATP's list of top players in 2006. Together with the Croatian representation, he won the Davis Cup in 2005, as well as the bronze medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He beat the world's best players – from Andre Agassi, Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Andy Roddick, to Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Đoković. This is the story of his victories in tennis, and in life; growing up, toughest decisions, friendships, loves, vices, faith in destiny...

After deciding to end his professional career, the famous Croatian tennis player was met with a great dilemma – where to continue his life? Because of the bloody war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992, he lost his home in his birth place of Banja Luka at only 13 years of age, and he never found another. In the past three decades, he lived in Croatia as a refugee, and then in Italy, where he began his professional journey as a rising star of tennis. His life quickly turned into constant travelling, from tournament to tournament, at least 40 weeks a year. Wherever he went, he was followed by his first and only love, his wife Aida, who he met as a boy in his refugee days in Opatija. Although she says their home is wherever they are together, they have decided to raise their children in Monte Carlo, a city-state on the French Riviera. In this gathering place of the world's jet set, no one is a foreigner, which makes it the ideal sanctuary for those who, like Ivan, feel multinational. His neighbor is Serbian tennis player Novak Đoković, one of the greatest players of all time, who joins us to talk about his own life in the elite city-state and his friendship with Ljubičić. We also hear the story about the search for home from one of the former residents of Monte Carlo, Croatian tennis legend Goran Ivanišević.
